Need help with a PTA project--electronic sign up sheet?

I’ve been struggling over how to implement a project for awhile and it occured to me that perhaps someone in this amazing community might have a solution for me.

We’re rolling out an appreciation program at our school in which each family will sign up to “appreciate” one staff person during the year (i.e. surprise with a special coffee drink, a danish, a note written by a student, etc.). I’d like the process to be as automated as possible. The sign up sheet needs to be ‘live’ so that people can immediately see which teachers have already been selected and which haven’t (which led me to a google doc) but prescheduled reminders will be needed for each family (which, then, rules out a google doc). There is a program called Jooners that I’m exploring but I’m not sure that will work either. Does anyone know of a program or something that lends itself to the type of electronic sign up sheet that I need? Thanks!

We use Mysignup.com. It’s completely customizable.

We’ve been very happy with it.

I was looking for this information last week. Found an awesome site, used it and the whole thing crashed. I am afraid to use that site again, in case it happens again.

Then I spent hours putting data in an excel spreadsheet.

Dang. I guess I should have come to CC for answers, huh? It would have saved me lots of time.

Sam- We’ve never had a crash. That stinks…seriously!
I would highly recommend this site if it can be customized to your needs. You can then export data that is entered into the sign up sheet to excel so you have a hard copy.

SamuraiLandshark, do you mind sharing which site you tried? And, hey, that’s some number of posts you have!

Google calendar?

Take a look at [VolunteerSpot — Doing Good Just Got Easier!](http://www.volunteerspot.com/)

We’re using it at our high school for parent sign-ups and love it. It’s so easy to set up, and if on first blush you don’t think it quite meets your activity needs, think outside of the box–with creative configuration, you can massage it to achieve most needs. The online display of what is open or full is great, as are the email confirmations, reminders, activity/event information and thank yous. If you take the time (not much required!) to work through tutorials, search/read blog post archives, etc., you will figure out many cool features.

TXArtemis…checking this one out! :)

On a totally separate note - we appreciated the high school teachers and staff at a Holiday Baking Extravaganza. One day in December we had parents bring in beautifully decorated (we had a fluffing station for those that came in less than beautiful) home made baked goods. They were place (hundreds of them) in the teachers staff room. Then by 11:00 am the teachers were allowed in to take their choice home! Sometimes 2 depending on how many were donated.

It has been a tradition for years at the school—and the staff LOVES it! Easy way to thank everyone for their hard work.

blue iguana,

I am going to try the site you mentioned…

collage,

I hate to say it, because maybe it was just a momentary glitch but it was VolunteerSpot that crashed on me. All the data I input the first day was fine. The second day’s data is what disappeared. We hadn’t invited others to join the site yet; it was only me putting in names, dates and jobs/food.

The post number is something that happened when I registered. I don’t know why.

Maybe I should just not work with technology. ;)

This is the problem when we need reliable technology, a great assistant to do what the technology won’t…and we are the assistant :{
