I’m doing a review guide for art history and having a problem on a few questions.

Compare and Contrast the impact Augustus and Constantine the Great had on the arts.

Compare and contrast the Roman Pantheon and Greek Parthenon.

Why is Hagia Sophia such a remarkable building in terms of engineering and space?

Thanks

Hagia Sophia – the dome thing. First time a dome was used on a large scale (the Pantheon doesn’t really count, since it’s almost flat).

You should, however, easily compare the Pantheon and the Parthenon.

Pantheon: Monopteral, for starters. It is an engineering feat.
Parthenon: It’s the classical Greek peripteral. However, like the monopteral, there is not a single straight line on it, which makes it PERFECT. It is a feat of architectural perfection.
You could compare the different architectural featuers, which is endless.

Augustus started a TON of building projects, which eventually became ruins, which eventually aided the Renaissance…

Constantine the Great had a palace, marked the end of Roman artistic perfection, et al, for a beginning.
