Dd who will graduate in December with BME degree just landed interesting Unpaid internship in Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL…
Since it is unpaid and for 3-4 months of a Spring semester, we need to find housing and hopefully some part time job to support some expenses. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. We have 0 knowledge of Jacksonville.
If she were my D, I’d suggest looking in Ponte Vedra and Jacksonville Beach or Neptune Beach for housing and a part time job. If no luck there, UNF isn’t far, so there may be some housing options near there. She may also find some other resources targeting UNF students that could help.
I’m aware of a Facebook page for Atlantic Beach (just north of Neptune Beach) where she could ask locals. It’s been a while since I visited the City-Data forums, but there used to be a somewhat active subforum for Jacksonville and the beaches.
She should reach out to the coordinator at Mayo- they may have a housing board (i.e. “room available” or “Do you want my sublet?”. This is not their first rodeo!

We will. But their website is a bit discouraging with all on your own, we do not provide help…
This is not a website issue. This is a picking up the phone and your D asking the person who hired her. Presumably there are hundreds of folks who participate in these internships over the course of a few years, and most of them come from out of the region. Mayo does not want them living under a bridge… there are temp employees of all kinds at a big institution, and the person who hired her will know who the right contact is, even if it’s just renting an empty room in the home of an RN who is looking for extra cash.

I would also be disappointed.
Perhaps look at where patients go for short term stays- there seem to be ads on AirbnB and by local realtors.
Unfortunately Mayo refused to share any info…including where to stay or other invited students…
Trying to contact Airbnb and friends of friends in the area. Not easy when you are not from area and is not interested in 6 months sublease.
