“My son then asked for a couple weeks to “think about it””
perhaps when your son said that it was interpreted along these lines…
will you marry me?? give me a couple weeks to think about it.

I think the VP is just busy and now that he has your son “in the bag,” there’s no reason to rush to get back to him.
I hope.
If he has a written offer with the details re start date, salary and training that was sent in Dec. or early Jan, and he accepted that offer in writing within 2 weeks after, the VP may just think there’s nothing else to confirm until closer to the start date. When your son calls, he should just say that he wanted to make sure everything is all set and to find out what the next steps are and when he should next expect contact. With a written offer and acceptance, it sounds like he is all set.
Great News- it’s all set!!
After several of you suggested he call the VP, I texted him the suggestion. He apparently called right away and left the VP a voice mail. He just got an email saying all is well, they are excited to have him and more details will follow. Whew!!
Thanks for all the advice, support and good mojo!! Now, I can sleep tonight…think this was causing me more stress than it was causing my son!
Yippee! Always good to confirm and be sure so that your S could pursue other options as appropriate. Thanks for letting us know all went well!
Great news! Glad it worked out.
YEA!!! Your update did make it sound more promising than the OP. Glad it worked out.
Yes, had I known your son had an email with salary and start date, I would have read the situation differently.
Congrats!
Yippee!!!
…actual human contact and communication! Who knew?
Good news, I am glad it worked out. I missed another option, the VP either is overworked, or is one of those head in the air genius types who wears one brown and one black shoe:)
Excellent news! Much better than the alternative.
