Need laptop suggestions

I just need something to doing word processing,internet browsing, and for playing some of my old games from time to time

My price limit is around 500$ and i’m looking at either this:

I’m open to other suggestions. I preferably want something with 2 gigs of ram and elgible for the free windows 7 upgrade.

From those two choices, I would definitely go with the Lenovo. Acer quality is terrible.

However, for around $500, you can pick up a nice ThinkPad or Ideapad from Lenovo outlet… does any of the following interest you? I highly, highly suggest any of the following laptops, they all have better processors and are overall better than the two you have checked out:

I suggest the T and SL series.

All of these have the 4500MHD integrated graphics card, which is certainly capable of handling games 1-2 years old.

I was weary at first because they are refurbished, but I see they have warranties. Do you know if Lenovo is doing the windows 7 deal?

Btw I really like the ideapads :D

I’m not sure. Vista with the new SP2 is pretty stable as it goes. I would wait a while before getting Windows 7 right away so they can work out some things, and maybe by that time you could upgrade to a newer laptop.

they dont offer the free windows 7 upgrade yet.
no manufacturer has released a date for that either. unless i’ve missed something over the last 2-3 days.

this wont start until june at the earliest, and wouldn’t be surprised if it started as late as september.
