So i have a 1980 of my sat (640 CR 650 M 690 W) with a 3.8 gpa UW and 4.5 W. I have a 28 on my ACT, i will take it one more time and possibly get a 30. either way my sat is higher. Ive taken all honors classes and one AP class. For extra curricular activities i did national honor society, ive worked for 2 years, and ive done tons of volunteer work with my church. So i plan on applying to a lot of private schools in California. Chapman and University of San Diego are my two big options. What are my chances of getting into these schools? Will the fact that my sister is currently attending college increase my financial aid oppurtunities? What are some other good CA private schools i should consider applying to?

If you are a CA resident, your admissions and financial safeties are the CCCs that you can commute to, and some of the Cal States.

Having your sister in college will affect your federal EFC from the FAFSA, but that doesn’t guarantee anything other than Pell Grants (if you are poor enough). Sit down with your parents, and talk with them about the money situation. Find out what they can pay, how they feel about student loans, etc.

Good luck!
