Need more schools...

I heard that most high schoolers apply to 5-8 schools, but I only have 3 (and possibly a fourth) in mind right now. I’m already planning on applying to the University of Rochester, the University of Pittsburgh, and the University at Buffalo, (and possible the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, but I’m not 100% sure yet). Are there any suggestions for other good schools I could look into? (I’m just going to list everything else from the stickied thread since I can’t think of any other way to format it.)

~My parents are willing to contribute as much as I need, but they still want me to work to get the best scholarships I can. If exact figures are needed, I can try to get them.
~I’m planning on going pre-med, with a major in Chemistry
~I would prefer schools near or on the East Coast, as I don’t want to be too far from my friends and family.
~Small/medium schools would be best. I don’t want anything too big.
~My faith is very important to me, so a Christian college would be awesome, but I can survive if it’s not a Christian school.
~My high school doesn’t do weighted GPAs, but if I’m not mistaken, my GPA from this past school year is around the low/mid 90s in 4 honors classes and 1 AP (AP US; got a 4).
~My SAT was a 2020, and my ACT is a 31, but I plan on retaking them in the fall in the hopes of my scores being boosted by having them both superscored.

I think that’s everything that’s needed. Let me know if I am missing any information. I can be pretty flexible, so feel free to suggest any schools that you think I may be interested in, even if it may not fit all the criteria I listed above.

Thanks for reading~

How about St. Bonaventure its not too far from Rochester or Buffalo. You can apply for the guaranteed acceptance program at George Washington Medical school with no MCAT requirement.

It is Franciscan, the tree huggers of the Catholic church.

Sure, I’ve heard about SBU. My friend is actually a rising sophomore there now. Thanks~

Regarding GW, what do you mean when you say “MCAT requirement”? I thought you don’t take those until you’re about to leave college ^^;

You are right but in that program with St. Bonaventure, GW waives the MCAT requirement to attend medical school.

Go to the St. Bonaventure website and look up how the program works.

There are similar programs with pharmacy, DO and dental.

Thank you, I found more information. Some of the criteria they listed include “Successful completion of a SAT II subject test in a science” does that mean the score has to be above a 700?

I really don’t know. You should email. Seems like having a guaranteed spot at medical school without taking the MCAT is something to look at.

Alrighty, thank you so much for all your help~

Here are some options I have put together for you that are of similar ranking/atmosphere to your selections:

  1. University of Maryland, College Park
  2. University of Wisconsin, Madison
  3. Ohio State University
  4. Pennsylvania State University

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Look at Union College, Lafayette (Pa) and possibly Providence. Is SUNY Stony Brook too big? Good for premed. With a small bump in your test scores you could get merit $$ from the others mentioned. Good luck.

Thank you to both of you. I’ll keep those in mind~
