Need opinions on a social dilemma

This isn’t super pressing, and I haven’t seen anything like it here, so I guess I’m just trying to get different opinions. Which would be worse: inviting your friend to the bars knowing they don’t have an ID or not inviting them at all?

With it being Halloween weekend I don’t want my friends to feel left out but I have people specifically coming to visit to go out this weekend. Not a huge issue since either way they can’t really go but I just wanted to get some opinions, and maybe some tips on how to deal with this awkward encounter. Thanks!

Neither.

Be upfront with them. Tell them you would be thrilled to see them, but that you’re planning to go out to the bars, and you know they’re too young to accompany you. Then suggest a better day for them to visit.

I’d go with the truth. Plan something with the friends who don’t have IDs another day.

Honesty and full disclosure is the right policy. If you have visitors who are over 21, other friends can’t blame you for going our for a drink with them.
