Need Philadelphia parking information

Am inquiring about this for a Facebook friend. She will be in Philly for about 4 hours with a car on a weekday in mid-March. She wants to know the best place to park to walk as many of the historic sites as she can squeeze in.

There is a parkimg garage nearby Independence Hall, actually across from the visitors center±… from there you can hit all the hot spots,Liberty Bell,Independence Hall, the Mint,Betsey Ross home, et …

Thank you so much! This is the second time this person has asked about it on Facebook and no one had replied. I knew I could count on CC people.

Another lonk, showing the sites, and parking, though i know the one i am talking about doesn’t seem like it is listed

The Philadelphia Parking Authority has a website where you can put in your destination and it will give you the nearest places to park. Here are the results for Independence Hall: [Philadelphia Parking Authority - Parking Locator](http://www.philapark.org/parkinglocator/parking_locator.aspx?destinationID=22)

I just found a spot on the street pretty close to Independence Hall which is the historic heart of the city. The problem was that we didn’t have enough quarters for the machine and needed to scrounge the businesses in the area to get some. Their meter checking seems to be quite robust - I saw meter readers frequently. I suggest having a stash of quarters in the car in the event they decide to park on the street at a meter.

The parking garage underneath the Indepedence Hall visitor’s center is very good (like another one posted). I would not take a chance parking on the street. Have you seen Parking Wars? I would never park on the street in Philly after watching that show.

Yes, the parking meter police are very diligent…in my opinion, not worth the savings…park in the garage…good place to grab a bite is in the Bourse,it has a food court

I can’t remember but I think the parking garage under IH was full which is why I parked on the street.

I had seen ‘Parking Wars’ so already had the heads-up that they take their parking meters seriously there.

My Penn grad kid got so many parking tickets that I think he may not want to ever drive in the city again. Things happened like new “No Parking” signs being erected AFTER he was already parked somewhere, snow routes (he didn’t know what that was, being from Texas) and meters running out by 5 minutes or so…

I agree with the parking garage underneath independence hall. Great location for all the historic spots and lots of information right upstairs.
