need resume content/style advice

I’m trying to transition to a different career. I’ve prepared a couple of different resumes and try to improve it each time I send it out. One focused on my skills that would carry over to a specific job. The other focused on my experience and identified relevant skills in each job. As I’m rewriting it again today I’m mentally debating which resume style might be a stronger presentation. The new job path is vaguely related to a previous position, but certainly not the same. Anyone on here look at resumes regularly and have an opinion?

We use filtering software to to the first sort. So words that are keyword should be included in your resume. Look at Monster board or Chicago Tribune career board and you can see the keywords of a position. For example if you are going to deal with the public or customers in anyway one keyword would be communication. Use the titles of the software that you know and not just the word computer skills. I prefer to see relevant job skills first then experience. Good Luck with your search. Most companies are taking months to make decisions so follow up follow up follow up!
