I have seriously run out of places to look for really good world music. i don’t mean little gypsies playing stringed guitars and there’s nothing to the song. I mean stuff like Kyo or Murat Boz or…Silbermond

Rock, or whatever! Anything indian, arabic, french, brazilian, anything good with a great beat. I’m in need because I’mt rying to expand my music collection! Anybody have any suggestions?

Seu Jorge for Brazil (acoustic)
The Dining Rooms for Italy (downtempo)
Justice for France (electro-rock)
Royksopp for Norway (electro)
Bjork for Iceland (Bjork)
Zap Mama for Zaire (Modern African)
Legaan Soundtrack for India

I’m not really familiar with the artists you mentioned but those are my suggestions for international music. Try using Pandora.com to explore.

[Edit] Legaan and Zap Mama probably have the most percussion of all those.

Your title of drumming caught my eye. My son is an African djembe player and he really likes the music of Kodo (Japanese drumming group), anything by Farafina Kan, Mamady Keita and Famoudou Konate. They are all fantastic.

if you’re looking for heavy beats, the Indian composer A.R. Rehman would be a good starting point. A lot of his songs (in fact, all the ones I"ve ever heard) have great rhythms. check him out.

Who are some good Afrobeat artists? Can you guys recommend any good, stereotypical drums, wails, and other african sounding fast-paced music? Also, I want music with singing. I’ve found some great beats, but no voice, which I don’t like.
