Need some reassurance

FFFFFFFFFF

So I live in LA and due to my financial situation (single mom, unemployed 2+ years) I can not move out of home, which I would normally have no problem with, but my options are now pitiful. UCLA said no, expectedly. Loyola Marymount said yes, but they are very expensive and just not worth it at that price tag. USC is my second to last chance here, it is expensive, but it definitely is worth the price and I hear they give lots of FA. My only other choices are UCSB, Davis, and NYU, but they are out of the question due to not being able to move out (plus NY is cold). I can also do community college at SMC, but I really don’t want HS 1.5 (though from my perspective a 4 year is basically HS 2.0…)

Anyway, I do not have the stats of USC. 3.56 UW, 3.97 W. 1940 SAT SS and 29 ACT. I was pretty ignorant of this whole process pretty much because everyone was telling me I was on the right track and will get into college (they were right, but not for USC). That gave me a little bit of arrogance I didn’t need.

If anyone could look at this and give me some hope, it would be much appreciated.

Did you receive financial aid at UCD and UCSB?

The reason I ask is that you mention that USC “gives lots of FA.” USC is known to be generous with financial aid, but they do not generally give more than the amount for which you qualify. Your after-financial-aid cost at UCD and UCSB would be an indication of the general amount that would be expected at another university.

UCSB has said nothing so far, UCD expects me to take 7k in loans per year and then pay an additional 3k out of my own student contribution. My EFC is 0 though. But I would have to move out and pay for room/board/food/ect, while at USC I can live at home (literally a couple miles away) and use my FA strictly for tuition and books.
