<p>My son is trying to improve his ACT math score – which right now is 26. </p>
<p>He is weak in math due to two years of horrible teachers and curriculum – Algebra I and Geometry. Algebra II was an excellent class, but he is still missing some concepts.</p>
<p>His individual composite breakdown is:</p>
<p>Pre-alg/elem alg = 17
int. algebra/coor. geo = 11
plane geo/trig = 12</p>
<p>he would like to improve this – hoping for something in the neighborhood of 32/33.</p>
<p>He is a rising junior, so he has time. In his case, I don’t think a prep book or cram course is going to do the trick – he needs some longterm work to get the skills.</p>
<p>Next year he is taking IB Math Standard Level – I have no idea how that curriculum corresponds to regular math classes. Does anyone know what they teach in IB math standard level? Will they do some covering of the topics he is lacking in? He catches on quickly – but I am trying to figure out if he needs to supplement his IB class.</p>
