They can advise a local law firm that does pro bono work, assist in paper work for medicaid and referrals for mental health. Does the daughter receive any SSI benefits from her dad?</p>
<p>EC, thank you, I will pass those suggestions onto my friend’s sister. She has a therapist who is aware of the whole situation, already. </p>
<p>I asked my friend last week if the daughter was getting SSI and she told me that once kids turn 18 the SSI stops. I had assumed that if the child was enrolled in college they would keep getting it but a quick google search confirmed that they do indeed lose it when they turn 18.</p>
