If this doesn’t work, nothing will
We got my daughter a Clocky, the Runaway Alarm Clock when she was in college. She found it very annoying (and effective). She actually set three different alarms and changed their locations in the room regularly so she couldn’t just hit snooze and fall back asleep.
Also try going to sleep earlier the night before on a more regular basis. It is usually easier to wake up if you are getting enough sleep on a regular basis.
I second what @bajamm said. The main reason kids in college can’t get up is because they are exhausted from staying up too late the night before, or have irregular hours that disrupt their sleep cycles. The most important thing you can do to ensure that you get up on time and have adequate rest is to try to go to bed at roughly the same time every night. Poor sleep habits have everything to do with poor time management, so if you can get that on track, you’ve got a shot at waking up on time. Easier said than done, I know, but not impossible!
Get the Sonic Boom alarm clock from Amazon
We have the sonic boom alarm for my hard of hearing husband. It’s really loud and gets louder the longer you don’t turn it off.
I also want to emphasize going to bed at a decent hour. 8am looks vastly different after an 11pm bedtime than it does after a 2am bedtime!
Also, don’t put your alarm next to your bed. On your dresser or desk is better so you have to actually get out from under your cozy blankies to turn it off. (I’m a 42 yr old mom, & I still struggle w/ this!! LOL)
May I also suggest setting out clothes the night before? Doesn’t have to be a fashion statement, but something (hopefully) clean & weather appropriate. That way you can function on auto-pilot until the synapses start firing.
Will you be in a single room? I’ve heard this thing get louder and louder…so plan to get up immediately…especially if you have a roommate.
My daughter hated clocky but it worked. I always threatened to get the one that flies around until you get the piece in it.
A rooster. One of our neighbors, who lived about 300 yards away, had one & it worked just fine at getting me up at dawn every day.
Sonic Boom. It also shakes the bed.
We have the Sonic Boom for my H. He still doesn’t hear it! But if I walk in the room and say “wake up” while it’s going off, he’ll wake up immediately. I should record my voice and have it play from his cell phone as an alarm, lol.
Now we have a dog that will jump all over him when the sonic boom goes off. That works too!
Once, he left the sonic boom set and went a way for a few days. A neighbor called the police because she thought it was a siren (complete with flashing lights). Some people are just heavy sleepers. Good luck!
My daughter has used sonic boom, clocky, and ruggie (which is cheaply made and overpriced). Nothing worked for long. Now she just uses numerous cell phone alarms. They usually work (eventually) when she really needs to get up. This doesn’t endear her to her neighbors in the dorm.
My S bought a Roomba electronic vacuum. He set it under his bed so it goes off the the set time scheduled. It makes noise, hits the legs of his bed and did a fine job of getting up while cleaning his floor—a two in one!
@Bkaclie I am not sure it it is just you in the sleeping area? You could try the Magellan’s for heavy sleepers if you have a roommate or another housemate and cannot do the sonic boom. It is very loud so you will have to jump up and get it

I sure hope all these people using these extreme measures to wake up live in singles.
For the sonic bomb clock the bed shaker option works quite well.
Clocky is awesome!!!
