Need tips for studying... I passed almost all my courses with good grades except for Arch Structures

Hi! I’m a second year architecture major, and, until now, had no major problems. I’ve got good grades this semester (mostly A’s and B’s), except for one, which I barely passed with a D, I don’t understand in what I’m failing, if I seem to understand really well all the other subjects with ease, but the one I almost failed (Architectural Structures I, to be specific). I’m so slow at resolving those problems, that even when I had already done the same problem and I know how to solve it, I take a lot of time solving it, then panic and freeze. When I’m barely starting to do the sums and getting the first answers, half of my class have already finished it. I’m afraid that I will barely pass Architectural Structures II, because I really have no clue about what to do to be faster solving problems (I already study it a lot, but it seems not to be working).

@Aricarly‌ i dont think your going to get much help from this forum (or CC) on this topic haha — I would suggest posting on this on the Archniect (google it, i cant say the website name cause thats against CC rules i think lol) because that is where lots of architects and architecture students talk about classes and such - on CC its mainly good for getting information on admissions!

Thank you @thegrant‌ I will check the other site

It’s not that difficult but you need to seek out problems and solve them. The problem is that unlike Calculus and the like these have an easy answer which is usually wrong. You need to be careful with your moments and forces and such, but they’re not going very deep I hope. In my view the arch curriculum needs a gentler introduction over a couple semesters as it’s too much material. So, practice, more practice, and bug the TA for help. Study groups help also.
