need to rent a room for 1 month

HOW DO I GO ABOUT FINDING OUT IF THERE IS A DORM ROOM OPEN FOR 1 MONTH? My son has to do his paramedic internship in Duluth and we cannot find a reasonably priced place for him to stay. We are from Eau Claire. Any ideas?

I second Craigslist.org

Since your S is old enough to intern out of town, it’s time for him (with your guidance, but not with your doing the legwork for him) to learn how to find housing.

As a person who interned out of town during college, and who has sent college students on internships, I suggest that the first thing your S should do is contact the company where he’ll intern, and he should ask the H-R dept. (or whatever dept. hired him) where previous students have interned.

There may be, for instance, opportunities to house sit or rent a room from people at the company.

They also can put him into contact with previous interns.

He also can contact the housing office at universities in that town to learn if they do temporary rentals to nonstudents.

Might have good luck to in craigslist under the ‘rooms share’ category too: young people with a house, or sometimes a family, who have a room to spare and you have run of the house.

My uncle has rented nice apartment type campus-owned space at UMD short term in the summer but I checked the UMD housing web site - that space is only available in the summer and only to “senior citizens”!

When exactly does he need the space?
