Need to Replace Jr.'s Cell Phone

Junior’s T-Mobile cell phone was stolen from his backpack in an unattended classroom at the high school. Why the students were assured they could leave their stuff in the classroom like that (in an AP class, no less!!!), I’ll never understand.

Anyhoo, the phone was a gift from a relative, but now it’s my turn to replace it. I did some web surfing to take a look at Virgin Mobile. From what I gather, Virgin uses the Sprint Nextel network. Does this mean that calls from a Virgin Mobile phone to any sprint phone are free? Couldn’t decipher this from the website. I use Sprint so I’d like the advantage of free Sprint-to-Sprint calls.

Before concluding that Jr.'s phone is truly “gone” try texting the phone … something along the lines of “Please leave this phone at the HS office. I’ve left $10 with the secretary for your trouble. Thanks.” JMHO.

Oh yes, it was definitelly “lifted.” But texting it would have been a good idea nevertheless, but the misuss already blocked/cancelled all service to his number.

Can’t you just add him to your family plan for free calls between you? We’ve always gone with whatever phone(s) our carrier is offering for free - sometimes requires a contract extension, which I never mind doing. Haven’t ever changed carriers since 1995 (although the carriers have “morphed” on us, lol - from Local Yokel to ATT to Cingular to ATT).

Unless the plan explicitly states that certain calls are free, assume that they are not.

If you are looking at prepaid plans, here is a [comparison chart](Prepaid Compare).

If you want to continue the existing T-Mobile service, you can buy an inexpensive prepaid T-Mobile phone from Target, Wal Mart, or T-Mobile’s web site and then arrange to put it on the existing T-Mobile service.
