Need Urgent Help Choosing Best NYC Play!

Okay, I’ve perused The New Yorker online and here’s my shortlist–most of which are in preview. Does anyone have an inside scoop on these plays?

Landscape of the Body by John Guare

On the Line with Mike Nichols directing

Stuff Happens at the Papp by David hare

Lestat (though we’re not big on musicals)

http://www.newyorker.com/goingson/theatre/

cheers,

Of those plays, I’d recommend Landscape of the Body, simply because John Guare wrote it, Michael Greif is directing, and Lili Taylor and Sherie Rene Scott are in the show.

Another excellent choice would be The Lieutenant of Inishmore which is a fantastic show. Martin McDonagh had the best show on Broadway last year in the Pillowman, and this one is just as good. I would also recommend Three Days of Rain (which I saw last night) but the entire run is already sold out. The God Committee is also good.

Haven’t seen Lestat myself but everyone I know who has seen it, has panned it. If you want a great musical, and are not ‘big’ on musicals, see Jersey Boys.

Booked in Lieutenant of Irishmore with the two boys in mind–though you can get Three days of rain tickets at a premium ;).

Ahhhh…for ten instead of four days in NYC!
Thanks so much, always. Really appreciate it.

Okay, while in Times Sqaure look fo rthe Naked Cowboy!!! He wears briefs, but wears them well…we have some great pictures

What about Doubt?

Also, if it interests you, try to see the Egyptian exhibit about Hatshepsut at the Met. I saw it in SF but it is now in NYC. Really fascinating and gorgeous.

I second the Hatshepsut exhibit at the Met. I saw it opening day while vacationing in NYC last week. Also, many thanks to those who suggested dinner at Carmine’s, a wonderful Italian restaurant!

I shared these with sac too, but recently ate at two great restaurants near Lincoln Center: Rose Mexicano (have the guacamole made to order at your table) and Gabriel’s (Italian).

Hi Cheers!
congrats on getting back to the Big Apple. While am of absolutely no help in providing info on the plays you mentioned, I would suggest you look into ordering tix from www.broadwaybox.com. they have GREAT discounts and no junk fees. They also have links to the theater seating so you can figure out if seats are decent. Have fun!

** addendum: they have reviews on the plays as well. Lots of great info!

I’ve seen Hatshepshut temple and the Egyptian museum in person–and highly recommend it to all. I will probably get to Moma and the galleries in Soho and Chelsea.

Probably only have time for one play. Sigh.

Will keep Rose in mind, patient. We’re staying on CPS. Kinda lined up for dinner with friends though.
