Another Miele canister fan. I think it is called Calisto, but that model has been replaced by something else. Maybe $800 almost ten years ago? Separate power-assisted attachment for carpet or rugs.
@colorado_mom I just bought a Shark cordless stick vac last week but have only used it once. It did a good job. I got it at Bed Bath & Beyond with the 20% off coupon for about $200. There are two speeds, one for hard floors and one for rugs and a trigger to super-size the speed of the roller for thick carpet. Only problem is the run time would never be enough for me to use it on all the carpet in the bedrooms but I bought it for the tile in the rest of the house. I figure I am more likely to use it than I would a broom.
