So now its between Penn State but with the 2+2 plan which means i will graduate at University Park, Smeal College of Business but if i plan to attend i will be at Eerie for 2 years…

I personally think Northeastern is the better option but my parents are suggesting that I goto Smeal since they have a better name worldwide which will help me get a job more easily because of alumni on the other hand Northeastern is just beginning 2 get recognition

Also I am a Muslim and i think being in the city where a mosque and halal food is avaible will be easier in Boston than in eerie…lastly i hear classes are only 2 hours each with just 2 classes in a day for 4 days a week…which means friday afternooon when i ahve to go for obligatory prayers it will be easier hopefully i can schedule it that way…

having said all that just want an honest opinion on this matter…if there are any muslims from penn state or Northeastern please do let me know what u think or even other please let me know what u think…

Northeastern classes vary, and your schedule is whatever you want. We have one hour classes Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and 100 minute classes Tuesday and Friday (or sometimes Monday and Wednesday). Labs tend to be between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the field and your major-- shorter labs can be whenever, but the long ones tend to be on Tuesday or Friday. Seminars like grad courses or honors seminars are usually 3 hours once a week, or are in one of the Monday/Wedesday slots.

So you can have four classes Tuesday and Friday, and have Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday off, or you can have two on MWR and two on TF… Freshman tend to get screwed a little on their schedule and get stuck with the 8 am classes, but my schedule last semester wasn’t before 11 am, I was in a seminar, and I had TF off to work.

You could get lucky or creative and have an awesome schedule, OR the one class openning for a course you have to take might happen to be at 5 pm on Friday (or in your case, during prayers). But that is pretty much the same at any school, not just Northeastern.

wow lol so detailed hhaha…im a business major no honors and stuff…so i dont have labs and stuff ya?

I know a lot of business majors that have no tuesday or friday class because of the lack of labs. Thats nice when there is no class monday because you get a 5 day weekend.

no labs… man, that would be the life.

I am a middle east studies major here at NU. There are a lot of muslim students here both from the US and abroad. You are right about having tons of resources like mosques and halal dining options just from being in the city, but I think the biggest thing is the community at NU. You are able to have these peers to talk politics with, study with, pray with, do whatever you want to do. I cant comment on Penn State, but I can tell you with complete certainty that there may be kids that dont like it here but it is not due in any part to being muslim and feeling out of place.

hey man, if u dont mind sharing why do so many ppl who attend NU not like it that much…?

internation, do Northeastern a favor and go to Penn State = )

^… why would you say that to someone?

hahaha…thanks northeasternkid…but i think by now u would have realized im gonna end up there…hopefully ull know when u meet me…
