From my experience, not likely to get merit money unless scores are 1500+ with very high class standing. Merit money is used to entice students who are way above the average ranges, or have some special talent or status, to chose GW over other schools. Your D is a good candidate for admission but in my humble opinion, it is more of a match than a safety for her. However, if she works hard freshman year and has a 3.7 average, she will get a Presidential Scholarship of $12,000/year for the next three years as long as she maintains a 3.0.

presidential scholarships are 15,000 per year actually. i got one and i had 1490/2190, was valedictorian, and had some other impressive activities/awards just to give you an idea of what to expect.

I agree it’s a match not a safety. I appreciate the info on the merit possibilities - it’s great to have a realistic view of this.

Do either of you happen to know if the actual application process is needs blind or not?

it’s needs blind. I received full tuition from needs.
