Needy college students have a good chance of getting government grants to take summer classes--again
Hopefully, this time around there won’t be ridiculous rules associated with the award. Last time, it was a huge administrative burden for the school, and it was really difficult for students to understand the rules - many thought they were getting the award, but they didn’t due to the confusing rules associated with year-round Pell.
Because of the year round Pell grant, I was able to take only 12-13 credits (barely full time) my freshmen year and “make up” the lost credits in the summer. This was so helpful since I worked full time, too.
My next 3 years were working full time while taking a full 16-18 credit load because Pell was only eligible during the year. It was hell.
