“8. If you dress like you would in LA you get harrassed by homeless people. ie I wore a not even very short skirt one day and a man asked me to ‘sit on his face’”

I think they’re negative experiences at every school. You just gotta go for it and give it your all.

Cal has around 2,000 to 3,000 less students than LA. Which of course accounts as to why UCLA is so damn crowded.

I don’t expect any of my profs to “help” me or even know my name. That is why I will be sucking up to them as much as possible at the inauguration… If they at least remember my face and my dad, I’ll have an edge. =D

I just want to get to know one or two professors well by doing research with them/taking a bunch of their classes/etc so I can nab some good letters of rec. I can deal with the rest not even thinking that I look familiar if they see me on the street

Ugh, you know what annoys me? I always hear how ugly the girls at UCB are and after living here for two years, the girls are just fine. It’s the GUYS who are fugly…

I just read a review from a girl who said she just didn’t feel safe walking around the UCLA campus and westwood at night. Good thing she didn’t go to Cal.

Oh and you guys think the girls at Cal are bad? You should have seen some of the chewbacca’s we had running around in the Marine Corps.

I have an opinion-- I WENT to UCLA for two years. It has its ups and downs though. I joined a “top sorority” and all the girls were gorgeous… and it was fun and there was plenty of partying. Beginning my junior year i went abroad (specifically to Argentina) and it totally changed my perspective. though I became vp of my sorority… it just wasn’t for me and i wasn’t being true to myself there. Beyond that, i became really disenchanted with the whole LA scene in general.

I’ve applied to transfer to berkeley for this fall. we’ll see what happens, i know 4 yr to 4yr is pretty ridiculously hard to do so i’m not expecting much. right now i’m at a CC. I loved some of my professors at UCLA and couldn’t imagine better ones (ESPECIALLY in the poli sci department). If i end up there in fall i wont be too terribly upset either. there’s my two cents. any questions, lemme know.

UCBorUCLA, I for one do not care much about appearance. As a matter of fact, I’ve found many average women to be very attractive because of their personality. Then again, what I’m really interested in is getting a good education and establishing connections with people who can further my career.

Heh, it also seems that a lot of people who posted the Berkeley reviews complained about the lack of social life. San Francisco is only about 20-30 minutes away and there are always social activities there.
