I found a site where students review their schools. The negative comments about UCLA are very discouraging. They are basically saying that UCLA faculty are interested in researching and not their students, only cares about athletics, overcrowded classes, and etc…

I’m not expecting hand holding, but it would be nice to actually sit down with your teacher one on one during office hours and ask questions/discuss the material.

it’s same here at ucsd, don’t expect to get any attention from the professor, nor the staff. even counselors who’s job is to help, they don’t give a **** about any student because there are too many of us, i was discouraged and ****ed off at first, but my friends gave me a reality check

U know I think the professors at CC are probably the best. The small class size makes us closer to the professors. I’m prepared to be at UCs. I know that I might not get a chance to even talk to professors there. Here at CC, I can go see them anytime.

I love CC lol.

After reading the reviews there, I can conclude that
UCB - they say lots of “ugly girls,” can’t find a date, no social life
UCLA - snobby people who think they’re all that, professors suck, promote school too much

Think about the types of people who are most likely to put a review on one of these sites. Basically, it tends to be a bimodal distribution: lovers and haters. You get very few “likers” or “lukewarmers” in the mix. Yes, you should look at opinions, but who’s to say that they’re actually indicative of most people? Or that it’s not just a bad sample to begin with?

Yeah, but it’s like when you buy a book on amazon. I always look at the worst reviews, then play the psychologist to figure out that individuals motivations and biases. It usually works.

Schools are, however, a bit more complicated than books. What may be a bad quarter could cause a poster on a site to launch into a tirade that, months later, could be far from the poster’s current opinion.

A classmate of mine once opined that his opinion of UCLA has changed considerably since he left, and he remarked that he had no idea what he missed out on at the time he was miserable from exogenous factors.

why do guys care so much about girls’ appearance?
Do we really have to be hot all the freaking time?
That’s why some girls are obsessed with their look and go through surgery just so guys can say “oh! she’s hot!”
