So I’m writing the explanation for graduating early in the Common App. EVERYONE says not to complain or be negative in interviews or the application, but the reality is that I graduated early because my school was pretty terrible. Also, my emotional maturity turned out to be a hindrance in a school like mine. I felt it was best if I struck out on my own, and I’m now taking a gap year for internships, travel, etc.
Anyway, I know to not complain, but I’m nervous about being too negative. I also know to use solid factsstatistics about my district and city and all thatand not make it about how I was wronged or whatever, but I don’t know if that’s enough to alleviate the fact that I’m kinda trash talking my school, albeit sympathetically.
Thoughts?

Well, it seems this is a perfect test of your maturity level. How to speak truthfully about your background w/o being off-putting to your listener. Best of luck to you.
