I recently got in an okay school at the regular level, and my large state school at the “scholars” level-below honors, above regular. The other school does not have scholars, only honors. Well, since people can sometimes negotiate for financial aid by kind of…pitting two schools against each other, could I perhaps do something similar? Like, get the okay school to put me in honors because the state school put me in scholars, and then get the state school to put me in honors because the okay school put me in honors? Or could I just skip that and just request that they reconsider putting me in honors altogether, without having to mention the other school? Thanks for any and all help!

any advice?

Don’t bother playing one school off the other for honors or scholars or anything else; it’s unlikely to work.

If you want reconsideration of being in honors/scholars/whatever, call and discuss it - ask what it was that kept you out of the program you want; see if you can reapply after your freshman year; ask for reconsideration.

Then follow up with a snail mail/fax outlining the conversation and why you think you should be admitted based on that conversation.
