Neighbor's dead tree --what's the next step?

Glad the tree is being removed. Surely the difficult neighbors are happy a dead tree is being removed at someone else’s expense.

Regarding the dead tree behind our yard (seems to be in a neighbor’s, but an eyesore and would fall into our yard) never found out if our HOA sent the demand letter to them a year ago like they claimed they would, and they went dark and never provided an update, and the dead tree is still unsightly and in the corner between 3 yards. It has dropped a HUGE branch behind our landscaped pines, between their property and their next door neighbors (our friends directly behind us) but the branch is currently wedged between the trunk and branch of another tree. The dead tree continues to drop (smaller) branches, which is what our tree guys said it would, but they seem to be still behind our landscape pines so we at present aren’t too bothered by that. The one pine that one of their big branches landed on a few years ago and bent that pine seems to have survived (I had our landscapers stake up the tree and remove that branch).

Thank heavens the neighbors uphill from us and directly behind us are good friends and good neighbors. We split all costs of tree stuff that seems to involve both of our yards. We finally had to give up trying to keep the big pecan tree alive and had it taken down last year. Turns out that with it gone, the sunlight was hitting the garage door sensor at certain times of the day when the door was open, so the sensor thought there was something in the way and wouldn’t close! We bought new sensors and switched them around and that, plus a visit from the garage door people, seems to have done the trick. The difficult downhill neighbors have quieted down since we shared the cost of tree removal between our yards. They were trying to get us to help pay for repairing or replacing their wooden retaining wall that their son painted all over, but we haven’t heard another peep about that since the tree removal.

@WayOutWestMom - ever have any follow up from the neighbors after the tree was removed? A neighbor down the street (several houses away) was bemoaning the fact that her yard is festooned with those awful sweetgumballs every year from a neighbor’s tree, and their neighbor had a fit when the friend trimmed branches hanging over her fence. This came up at lunch the other day.

We’ve haven’t heard a peep out of them.

We had a pretty dramatic storm last night and sure enough, the neighbors dead tree, or possibly the neighbors, dumped a bunch of very large branches conspicuously in our flower beds. I made the mistake of kindly returning them, in the area of their yard that is a brush/wild area, before putting mosquito spray on, and I have a gazillion bites. It has been over two years since we brought the dead tree to their attention and they did not even have the courtesy to respond. They can keep their branches since they obviously care so dearly about their dead tree.

They probably won’t even notice!

we had a large tree come down in our woods - at 11am this morning. We were sitting on our patio and heard it. Unfortunately, it took out a section of fence, so guess who is getting a call tomorrow?

We had that happen last week. Big tree fell and took out part of our fence and blocked the driveway. Thankfully insurance covered the removal and fence repair, less our deductible.
