Nerdy Public Colleges

Hi,
I wanted to know if there were public colleges with a business school that has a lot of nerds. I know every university probably has some nerds but I really like a public college where being nerdy is somewhat normal. This could include programs that are nerdy such as honors colleges. Thanks for your time and please feel free to comment any ideas.

Cornell University’s Dyson school is public…sort of. Georgia Tech, Michigan, UVa and William and Mary have relatively nerdy student bodies.

Berkeley Haas is full of brainiacs. Nerdy, talented and motivated students.

I’ve never thought of UVa as having a particularly “nerdy” student body. In Virginia, it is William & Mary that has a more quirky reputation.

SUNY Binghamton is nerdy. It has a business school.

I’ve found pretty much all colleges that are relatively selective have some nerd quotient. Or perhaps nerds in denial . . .

@Alexandre

It could potentially be argued that Michigan’s student body is “nerdy”, but the Business school certainly is not (mainstream Greek Life, alpha personalities, etc.).

I guess it could depend on your definition of a nerd. I went with the mainstream definition of a nerd.

Georgia Tech

ASU Barrett

Possibly New College of Florida, UMBC, Georgia Tech, Colorado School of Mines

Cal Poly Slo - lots of engineers . . .

I wouldn’t say business majors are nerdy in general but Clemson has a lot of nerds.

Agree that it is a bit of an oxymoron. Nerds are not as prevalent among business majors. And why only public universities? Not much cost benefit over privates unless you are in-state.

I would say this list by US News of universities with largest percentage of STEM majors is a good starting point .

Nerd is different from geek which has a branch made of tech geeks. Define what you’re looking for.
Also, why public colleges? Do you mean for OOS and if so what is your budget?

UF definitely has a nerd culture (in a good way) but so far it seems like they are engineering.

SUNY Binghamton-- great school!

UConn - full of hardworking students and they have a great honors program

University of Washington
