Nervous I made a mistake on the alumni portion!

I recently submitted my supplements via the Commonapp and realized I might have a mistake. Since my mom is an alumni I listed her down, but I accidentally put her married last name! I assume they won't recognize her name and will think I falsely put down a parent as an alumni! What should I do?

Should I just list it under the additional comments in the application section since I haven't submitted that portion yet?

It’s an honest mistake, but if it makes you feel better, you can put it in the additional comments section.

I doubt they even verify it in most circumstances.

Is it appropriate to put it in my additional information section seeing how each common app school I’m applying to will see my additional information section?

If you put it in additional comments doesn’t it go to all schools? Not that it should matter really. Just email the admissions office shouldn’t be an issue

An email would also do, as well.

But, for the record, there is a method to create alternate versions of your application, if you wanted to tailor your application to multiple schools.

Just email. Should be fine.

I would be surprised if U-M does not have a record of your mother’s married name. If she has had any contact with U-M since she was married, it was likely updated.
