now… the question…
I want to major in Journalism, with focus in business and international affairs, but still want to take some art classes. I am very interested in Northwestern and UNC-CH, but am out of state for both and need alot of financial aid. Are these schools reasonable for me to be interested in? Any suggestions for others schools to look at or things to get involved in, application suggestions… which should I apply ED to in the fall? I have read most of the posts for both of these schools and am aware of how selective they are… anything you can tell me will help! Thanks!

My personal guess is that you would be a good candidate to apply for admission. However, I don’t think that anyone can really give you a chances idea since basically everyone that applies to these schools is awesome in the classroom and/or in one or more other aspects of the application (Trust me. It’s very annoying.).

The main advice I can give you is to be careful around ED. If you’re accepted in that plan, you must attend the following year. If you do go that route, make sure that the school you apply to in it is by far your first choice, and I don’t think anyone can say which school that is besides you.

For Northwestern, it doesn’t matter if you’re in-state or out-of-state. The tuition is the same for everyone (lots of $$$). However, they do guarantee to meet your full demonstrated financial need.

If you’re looking for other schools on which you can think, check out the University of Michigan. It seems like a great school, is highly looked upon, and you can still find that aspect of friendly competition there. I’ve been accepted there, and they’ve been giving me a nice, warm welcome so far (in the form of an admissions package, a congrats letter from the college in the university that I’m accepted at, a letter from the president of the university, and a postcard from an alumna in my area that gives me her information so that I can get in contact with her and discuss the university).

However, saying I’m posting this in the Northwestern forum, I’m waiting to hear what their final decision is on me before I make any rash decisions that I may kick myself for come the end of March. In other words, Northwestern is also an amazing university though more difficult at which to get accepted. In their case, they have a completely amazing program in jourmalism waiting for you.

ur a tiny bit above than the average applicant if u continue with those grades and
get high enough scores on ur sat

i think for nu though
the essay is so important
