please chance me! If you want, I could return the favor.
thank you!

Chance you for what colleges? ;-)

lol it says on top :P

Emory, UVA, Dartmouth and actually Georgetown too!

thanks!

and ucla! sorry!

UVA - match/in
Emory/Dartmouth - low match

Dartmouth–high reach
UVA–Reach
Emory–high match
UCLA–Reach

I don’t think you have 1700 in your graduating class…maybe the entire school.

Georgetown is an extraordinarily tough admit for students from the DC area. Better to apply somewhere comparable where you bring geographic diversity.

How so? I thought it had been established that OOS wasn’t harder for the UCs, especially this year? Those stats are certainly a high match at least for kids in CA.

oh yeah 1700 = whole school. misread.

and thanks everyone!

OP-the sheer # of applicants ucla gets per year, in-state & out-of-state, makes it one of the most competitive schools in the country. & out-of-state standards have always been ridiculously high, meaning that some 2350 scorers, etc. have gotten rejected in the past. the only thing different this year will be that perhaps more of those super-qualified out-of-staters might get in. i.e. still not a great chance for the more average applicant.

in any case, i hope u have some safeties because all of those schools are looking like reaches to me.

anyways, gl :)

well i didn’t put the safeties because well… they’re safeties. i’m safely hopefully not wrongly assuming i can get in… lol these are the “am i being ridiculous or do i have a shot of getting in schools?” haha… i can hope right? :stuck_out_tongue: thanks for the input though :)

Emory - high match
Dartmouth - low reach
UVA - high match
Georgetown - low reach

I’m from MoCo as well.

bumpbumpbump

Id consider Dartmouth a very large reach
UVA/Emory more match-reaches.
Improve the SAT and your chances improve

Good luck!

Can you provide some proof it’s harder for OOS students? The admit rate is 5% higher than for instate students and they yield half the percentage of OOS students, meaning to get all of the full pay OOS students they want this year it may well be easier to get in from OOS.

I’d say the OP has a fighting chance at all but Dartmouth which has lots of Korean applicants with much higher stats and will probably see an increase this year given it’s new Korean president.
