I’m not sure if it has been mentioned, but NESCAC Football will compete in the NCAA Division III National Championship beginning next year.
Suitable seeding may present a challenge in this first year.

Bates came back from a 16 point deficit in the 4th quarter to send the game into overtime…definitely a great win for the Bobcats and there were a lot of alums who were in town for the game as well.
Great win and a great atmosphere in Lewiston for the game!
It will be interesting to see how the NESCAC programs match up against the national D3 powers in football.
Indeed. They crushed it in basketball last year; half of the Final Four, but football seems a different beast.
Yes it will. It will also be interesting to see if they become more attractive with post-season play. It will add more competition to the Director’s Cup if they start earning points for FB.
Wowza Colby!
Colby College, the prestigious liberal arts college in Waterville, Maine, has received an anonymous commitment of $150 million. The gift is the largest in the college’s history and one of the most generous ever received by a liberal arts college, according to the college’s news release.
The donation will be used to fund several science-related initiatives at Colby. Included in those investments are a $300 million, state-of-the-art, science complex; new academic programs in science and engineering; support for the state’s K-12 STEM education; and partnerships that will strengthen Maine’s science and technology economy.
Colby is, and has been for several years now, a school to watch.
The 2026 USNews poll is out and once again, NESCAC does very well with 7 members making the top 20 and 9 cracking the top 30. Three of the Claremont Colleges (Claremont-McKenna, Pomona and Harvey Mudd) placed very well, too:
Looks like Bowdoin, Bates, Colby all moved up?
Bowdoin was #5 last year as well, so no movement. Last year Colby was at 25 and Bates 26, and both are now tied for 24.
Right - thanks! Just Bates and Colby then…
And here we goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!!!
Let the celebrating, bi+ching, analyzing, peacocking, questioning, obsessing, pretending, sulking, boasting, whining and commenting begin!!!
Nothing like a ranking post to get things going. Especially this one.
