<p>When did this networking hype start? Or has it always been emphasized? </p>
<p>Ever since I started looking for a job, everything I read and hear is about networking.</p>
<p>Well, it’s probably always been around, although I don’t know if it’s always been called networking. I mean, it’s always been that having connections helps, and these days, it seems like everything is ultra-competitive, especially since the world has been getting smaller – figuratively, of course.</p>
<p>It’s always been around but not something people took classes on or anything. My parents and grandparents ALWAYS had rolodexes with all the people they had met.</p>
