NEU for non-preprofessional?

Any applicants or current students have any thoughts on Northeastern for a student (my son) who doesn’t yet know what he wants to do, is interested in some sort of future that involves political science, public policy, public interest law, problem solving, doing good…
He loved the energy and diversity at Northeastern when he visited in August and is in love with Boston. Other colleges he especially loved were Oberlin and Vassar and Brandeis.
He got into Honors with a good scholarship, so we are visiting April 6, so he will look carefully then.
Other possibilities are U.Md. Honors (in-state, close to home, scholarship, very inexpensive for us) and waiting to hear from Vassar and Oberlin. Got into Brandeis and U. Rochester, but at full price, may be impossible or unreasonably expensive as compared to what Northeastern or U.Md. would offer!
His personality, if that matters, is NOT preppy, grind, relifious or traditional in any way… more hippy-punk-intellectual-nerd-artsy type.
