To what extent would it hurt my application for graduate schools if I were to take a few prerequisite classes (calc II, chem II, and possibly organic chemistry), at a local state school where the classes are less difficult? I am currently at a moderately selective state school where I will probably graduate with a ~3.7 GPA and have a few semesters of experience in psychology/ neuroscience labs. People who go to this less selective state school full time do often go to graduate school and med school too, so it seems like it would look better than taking it at a community college, but my intuition could be wrong idk.
In general, I don’t think it matters. If you are taking the prereqs over the summer and the school you are primarily enrolled in accepts the classes, it doesn’t matter if you take them at a local state school or a community college.
My university didn’t count the preeq classes I took over the summer at a community college towards my GPA, they only counted the credits. And none of my graduate school applications asked for the transcript from the prereqs at the community college because my undergraduate transcript already accounted for it.
It is entirely possible that med schools will care, but graduate programs will not.
