Preferably I would like to go in to clinical neuropsychology, but I’m having trouble finding programs so I’m just comparing to both neuro and psych grad schools.
Currently Im a junior in undergrad majoring in both psych and neuro and I have a gpa of 3.6. I am doing badly in a class right now and I was wondering if a W would be better than getting a C in the class. My GPA would probably drop and I would have a C on my transcript then.
I was wondering if a C would be okay? I dont need to get into Ivy’s or anything, and I really dont want to have to drop the class
Also, my school only offers BAs not BSs so will that be a problem with applying? Will they think people with BSs are better? I go to CU Boulder
One C will probably not change your chance of admission. Almost everyone ends up with a C in some class.
No one will care that you have a BA instead of a BS. What they will care about is the courses on your transcript and that you got through with only one C!
Clinical neuropsychology is actually a subfield of clinical psychology; if you want to be a clinical neuropsychologist you need to do a PhD in clinical psychology. There are a couple of programs that have a concentration or research area in neuropsychology: Drexel, SUNY-Binghamton University, Wash U, University of Utah, Wisconsin, Mizzou, UMass-Amherst, Maryland, UGA, UF, UConn, Arizona, Temple, Cincinnati, the UCSD/SDSU joint program, Kentucky, UT, USF, Fordham, Vanderbilt, and Northwestern are some that at least offer some classes in clinical neuropsychology.
One C can be okay - it won’t keep you out forever, as long as the rest of your transcript and application is outstanding. Are you getting research experience? Are you volunteering and shadowing in clinical work?
