Hi, I’m going to college next year and I just want some information about neuroscience majors. I have been living with my disabled stepfather who had a stroke, basically for my whole life and because of him I want to go into medicine. I want to learn more about his condition because he is very different from other stroke victims. What fields of neuroscience should I go into? What’s the difference b/w neurology and neurosurgery and other fields? I don’t really want to research, but actually have an intimate relationship with stroke victims and their families. Should I do a bio major? I am very passionate about this and I know that I will pursue this career no matter how hard it is. Thanks for your suggestions.

Carleton has a new Neuroscience Center - you major in Bio or Psych and do a Neuro concentration. You can check the website and see if the areas of research interest you

As an LAC, it’ll have good opportunities for undergrad research
