neuroscience?

hello, i am planning to major in neuroscience (don’t know if i got in, just got waitlisted at UChicago, but have my fingers crossed for NU).

does northwestern have any neuroscience programs. and how are their med school acceptances? do they send their students to top med schools?

Isn’t that something that should have influenced your decision to apply to Northwestern? I mean, you’re just asking NOW?

no i know they have a program…but i just want to get the perspective from the ppl who are already there

HMPE applications were due a long time ago…?

Well, to answer that question, you can go to their website ([Home — nuin](http://nuin.northwestern.edu/)) and perhaps contact a member of the faculty for specific information. Decisions will be released shortly, so you might as well wait until you know if you can even consider going there.

As for your other question…perspectives on the program…I’m not sure how helpful the responses you get here will be. Most of the active CCers on this forum right now are HS seniors hoping to get in, let alone join any neuroscience institutes.

ty KPT…and bank, i’m not going to do HPME

The viewbook says the med school admit rate was 84%.

The psychology department has a neuropsychology group that is very good, if that’s what floats your boat.

Even at schools with an established neuroscience department, the classes are often simply an amalgam of psychology and biology courses. So even if NU doesn’t have a dept, you could probably make your own major quite easily with courses like neuroanatomy, psychobiology, etc. that should be offered already by any uni with solid psych/bio departments. Hope that helped!

Check out the communication sciences and disorders department. They have classes like neurobiology of communication and others you can take to learn more about the brain.
