never taken regular chem...best ap chem prep book? barron's?

what prep book can help me get a good idea of chemistry and at the same time help me prep for ap chem during the summer…will barron’s help me since it’s sort of more than a review considering it’s size? would using both pr and barron’s help?

thanks

ummm I think you really need to take a basic chemistry class before AP. It helps you learn the science really well before all the equations and math parts of chemistry are thrown at you. There is simply no AP prep book that can compensate for that knowledge.

I took ap chem without regular chemistry before hand and I just borrowed notes from someone eho had taken reg. chem and then I used the princeton review guide. I’ve never used barrons so i don’t know how it is but I passed the ap exam with Princeton R.

^ im planning to maybe get pr. was the exam difficult for you? would it be alright to say what grade you got on the exam?

for anyone who used barron’s, do you recommend it because i’ve read that there is a lot of unnessary information, it’s hard, and there are lots of mistakes? explanations will be very helpful. thanks

As long as you are an astute student, you could easily go into AP Chem without having any prior knowledge of chemistry.

If your end goal is the AP test rather than earning a good grade in the class, you could easily just cram all this knowledge the week before with the use of any book (they all seem to be the same, whether it’s Kaplan, Princeton, or Barron’s).
