Nevous about applying and interviews

I have 3 Cs in my 7th grade year but all As and Bs otherwise. How will schools such as Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall, Winchendon School, Master’s Academy, Chesire Academy, etc view this? Not the top schools but still pretty good

Are you applying for financial aid?

Yes, I don’t think my family could contribute anything except outside of tuition costs like clothes and activities actually

Schools look at your entire middle school grades (6th-middle of 8th). And they look at the whole application. I can’t tell you if you will get in anywhere (unfortunately my crystal ball isn’t working  ). Visit the schools, interview & talk to admission staff and take it from there.

Does anyone know what years they look at if you apply in 10th grade for 11th grade? Would they look from 8th grade up?

They will look at your grades of 6th and up, but since you have had a longer time frame to demonstrate your academic strengths, the C’s during the 7th may play a smaller role. However, if you need significant FA, generally you will have a better chance if you are among the strongest applicants in your cohort. I’m not familiar with the schools you are applying to. Maybe your transcript of mostly A’s and B’s is good enough. You should do more research on your own (look for class profiles on their websites, talk to AO and reach out to people who have direct experience with these schools etc). Good luck!

It all depends. We know someone who was not a top academic student at her West Coast school (nor did she score particularly high on the SSATs) but she was accepted into a GLADCHEMMs school with full FA. She had other strengths (no, not an athlete) and was very self reliant in her application process. She had: talent + determination + drive + geographic location. She was accepted and her BS met ALL of her financial needs (even over and beyond full tuition + room/board).

You can’t change what’s already happened. But the good news is if you can show improving trend in your grades, it wil help. Try to get the best grades in 8th grade if you want to apply for 9th.

Talk to the schools. Cheshire Academy likes geographic diversity and has given generous FA this year to students with SSAT scores of 85 and up. But generous is not full. Good luck.

Thanks all! I am switching to my local high school for 1 year, minimum, to get adjusted to the classroom setting since I go to an online school.

Don’t be nervous for interviews! Make sure to prepare and they will go smoothly. It isn’t the interviewers job to trip you up, they just want to learn more about you.

Goodluck!
