It was announced today Robert and Elizabeth Plumleigh have pledged $1 million to the USC School of Theatre. The funds will endow the Karen Cortney Scholarshp in support of the school’s MFA in Acting Program.

This is wonderful!! Thanks, as always, GG for keeping such great news posted here where families and students can see the growth and opportunities at USC. We’re really pleased to see the SoT get such a gift!

how come marshall and viterbi never get huge gifts lol

Buddha,
Please see the Continuing Students Scholarships thread. I added Marshall this week. The graduate scholarships still need to be posted.

It was announced this week a $750,000 pledge was received by Marshall for a Global Equity Fund. This was an initial pledge.

In October Ming Hsieh donated $50 million for a cancer research center. Engineers, doctors and scientists will all be involved.

In recent years Viterbi has received these donations:

Ming Hsieh-$35 million to Viterbi Electrical Engineering
Dan Epstein-$11 million to Viterbi
Mark Stevens-$22 million
John Mork-$15 million
Sony Astani-$17 million

^lol I knew you were going to post something like this.

Thanks lolz

Buddha,
How could I disappoint you?

GG

^ I was wondering: is there a particular website/part of a website that you get all your statistics from?

Buddha,

Lots of brochures, pamphlets, magazines, newspapers, books, newsletters and the internet.

Add notes and letters from students…

Yay! It seems like SOT never gets any recognition. Even if that is only for a graduate student scholarship… where’s the undergrad love?

Wisdom,
Some students in the School of Theatre receive Trustee, Presidential and Dean’s Scholarships. Please view the continuing scholarship thread. There is a list of named scholarships from donors you will recognize for continuing theatre students.

For the 2020-2011 year there were only 123 freshmen enrolled in the SOT.

haha no I know there are a few scholarships for us, but given the $215 (or more) million that has been received elsewhere this year, including $50m to Annenberg, and $100m to what is now the Dornsife College, I feel like we’re a little left out! :)
