<p>DS & First SATs as we speak. He needs some super luck. Last week was exam week, so not much time to prepare. He did pretty well on exams though 
He really studied a lot.</p>
<p>Remember if first SAT is taken in March of junior year, there is May, June and fall of next year to retake if your child is willing. Plenty of time for improvement if first scores disappoint.</p>

<p>My kids are so different. D was “one and done”, but she pulled a 2000+ , had an unweighted near 4.0., and lots of other priorities.</p>

<p>campbellmom: LOL this is purely my addiction at the moment. S is planning to go to college and his sisters search rubbed off on him to a degree but he is not looking at schools yet. That is just me and my particular passion or perhaps obsession ;). S has expressed an interest in attending his sisters’ campus as well as the So Cal campus where he attends fb camp every year and a directional public in CO that he noticed in a brochure sent to his sister two years ago! </p>
<p>He may be willing to go across the country, he may not, but SU looked like a nice friendly, place to learn and since I have friends in PA I was just exploring all on my own :)</p>

<p>It was funny, though, when we got the one from Rochester, not only was it big but it said “Welcome” on it in big letters…and my son, ever the reckless optimist, was asking me in all seriousness if I was sure that meant it was an acceptance! Yeah kid, they’re going to fake you out and say “welcome” so they can crush your spirit by putting a rejection inside. :rolleyes:</p>
<p>Woot nightchef and nightchef S!!! Well Done and Congrats! Last year D said to me after receiving her 1st acceptance “I am just surprised that they want ME!” It was one of the few indicators that she cared about the process. Nightchef does your S have apreference at this point?</p>
<p>On a mobil device, but wanted to say that for our son being actively courted by a couple of his schools has been a nice reminder that he’s got something to offer. When he hears about friends’ Ivy acceptances, he forgets that.</p>
<p>historymom–he’s gone back and forth quite a bit along the way. I think Skidmore is his #1 choice right now, but he likes both Rochester and Goucher; I’m not sure which of the two he’d pick if it came down to that. There will definitely be some more visits coming in April.</p>

<p>I am still waiting to see if any 2 kids from this thread wind up at the same place (although neither parent may admit to their child having been a poster).</p>
<p>Good to hear all this great news! S seems to get annoyed with the emails and phone calls from schools who have accepted him, but I tell him to just enjoy it! Eventually he might see my point of view, but maybe not!

<p>SLUmom S delighted in handing the phone to his sisters last spring. They HATE talking on the phone in the first place so S enjoyed watching them squirm when getting calls from admissions folks. Little brothers are such a treat!</p>

<p>gweeta: I am sure your kid recognizes that his worth is not measured by his acceptances but I can see where it would sting some. Sure he sees his own glass as brimming over most of the time.</p>
<p>^^ He does, but he is regretting the way he spent the first part of his high school career (not overly so, but it’s noticeable), and I’ve enjoyed seeing him have some success in this process. </p>
