New Admissions Dean

HAVERFORD, Pa., July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Haverford College announced today that Jess H. Lord has been appointed to the position of Dean of Admission and Financial Aid, effective July 1, 2005. The appointment comes after a comprehensive national search process that started in the fall of 2004 and engaged students, faculty, administrators, alumni, and Board members.</p>

<p>Mr. Lord joins Haverford from Pomona College in Claremont, Calif., where he was the Senior Associate Dean of Admissions. While at Pomona, Mr. Lord managed the day-to-day operations of the office, where in addition to regular travel, application evaluation and assessment, and interviewing, he was involved with the college's admission policy and decision-making, including issues such as the recruitment and enrollment of students of color, the integration of technology into the admission process, and managing a large- scale computer conversion project. Mr. Lord was also involved with the hiring of all department staff, served on a college-wide Web site redesign team, and supervised the publications committee. Prior to Pomona, Mr. Lord worked in Brown University's Office of Admission as an admission officer (1994-1996), assistant director (1996-1999) and associate director (1999).
