Congratulations and welcome to the club! Grandbabies are a wonderful invention. May I do two ads?
Get your grandbaby enrolled in tinybeansDOTcom or a similar service. Mine is just in the free version of it–the premium version is new. Once you set it up, you can post pictures every day and it sends them out to everyone on the distribution list. My kid and spouse have a gazillion facebook friends who really aren’t interested in seeing pictures of their baby every day. So, this lets them limit distribution to people who actually want to see them. The recipients can indicate preferred frequency–once a day, once a week, etc. I’ve never done it, but you can order prints if you want. I just download.
It’s a calendar and stays “up” so you can go back and see the first time (s)he turned over, crawled, walked, etc. Amazing to see the changes. The free version lets you post video clips–up to 30 seconds, I think. Premiere is up to 5 minutes. Almost as touching as seeing the first time my grandbaby turned over is hearing the excited reaction of mom and dad!
Second ad is for magnificentbabyDOTcom clothes. A bit expensive but great! Instead of snaps or zippers, they use magnets. Makes it a lot easier! (Just make sure you put the magnets together before putting an outfit in the dryer!)
Congrats! DIL’s mother can’t wait for grandchildren, even though my son and her daughter just got married. I’m willing to wait, but I’m looking forward to it.
Congratulations.
I will be joining the club in November. Daughter is expecting twin boys!
It was a complete shock. No family history of twins and they had no “help”.
I like the following and had a clipping of it in my kitchen for years -
Oh, cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
But children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust, go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby. Babies don’t keep.
sistersunnie, although I replied earlier, I wanted to tell you that I have never forgotten your family’s heartache. (Please forgive me if I am confusing screen names.)
I can’t tell you happy I am to know that you have experienced this wondrous, delightful event; and that a precious grandchild is now a part of your family. May all of the blessings and support your family has provided to others be returned to you and yours, many times over. What a lucky baby to be born into a family so filled with love and compassion.
Congratulations!! Being a grandma is the most wonderful thing in the world. I am so very lucky to have my grandchildren only ten minutes away. You are in for lots and lots of fun!
Congrats! Both of mine are in High School already and very far away from us. They grow up so fast. GrandD. will be making a college list this year, she is HS junior. Cherish the time when you can hold them and they cannot talk, the most precious!
My only unsolicited advice is to check 529’s in your state and the state they live in. I’m so glad we prepaid tuition for my children. My oldest will attend college next year at 1997 tuition prices. Our state tuition has gone up 300% since he was born! Grandparents can buy them.>>>>>>>>>
D was married earlier this year. I am hoping she and SIL will have children in the near future. They hope so, too. Time will tell. I can’t wait to be a grandparent. Three of my siblings and several of my girlfriends are already enjoying grandchildren. They share the best photos and video clips.
Oh my, how wonderful! I am sooooo wishing one of my three might be interested in procreating, but so far nothing.
Meanwhile, sending hugs and special wishes that this birth can help heal a small amount of your family’s pain.
Mankind slogs forward in little bits of lovely baby hugs and kisses.
