New Amazing Race Season starts FRIDAY, September 26!!! Season Thread

I had a feeling that it was non-elimination.

I was out and only saw the last few minutes. I was excited to see the candy girls second but bummed the wrestlers are still in it.

I thought the week before was going to be a non-elimination but was wrong, so I knew we had one more on the horizon.
The tasks this episode were crazy. I sure wouldn’t have wanted to be in either that horrible water collecting fish OR even worse, the ox-poo laden mud! YUCK.

I don’t honestly think the Candy Scientists can pull off a win but I sure am rooting for them! Or of course the Surfers because they are simply adorable.

At this point in the game (4 teams) if they are not stressing getting one of the top 3 spots all through the show then you know it’s going to be a non-elim. They have done this a few times at this point in the race. Also a clue: when the first team arrives at the pit stop and Phil doesn’t announce “you’ll be one of 3 teams competing for a million dollars!”

So do we have a 2 hour show (getting to top 3 AND finale) tomorrow night or do we have 2 weeks of show left - tomorrow night AND next Friday. Sometimes our DVR cuts off the previews so I didn’t see all of them for what’s coming up…

Two more weeks… one hour show each week…

waving at scualum!

Hi YDS!!

So non elimination and 4 teams in the finals. Hmmm. Not sure that works for me - finals have been largely about luck last few seasons - so now it’s a 1 in 4 shot? No penalty for being last? I’m wondering if there was some off camera problem that resulted in them not being able to eliminate them.

Maybe it had to do with the bike/car crash - I think the “Candy Girls” have a real shot at the win - not necessarily because they’re strong, but I think there’s going to be a mental challenge they’re going to ace. I really have grown to like them.

A good episode with a twist at the end. I could see Phil holding a fourth clue and envelope as the girls arrived so I knew that something was up. The wrestlers killed this leg. Who would have thought that they’d be the smartest racers. The other teams were incredibly incompetent in that roadblock. Read the darn clue, people!

It’s interesting how they have focused so little attention on the Candy Girls, despite them getting to the final four. Makes it difficult for me to believe that they’ll win the thing. Clearly, Maya has a lot of personality, but we’ve only seen that in the past couple of weeks. The partner feels like a drag on the whole endeavor. I still don’t want the wrestlers or dentists to win.

I can’t believe we’re going to have the same 4 teams competing for 3 legs in a row. As much as it pains me to say, the wrestlers deserved to win that last leg.

The wrestlers may have peaked thanks to four physical challenges in a row. Let’s see how they do with a memory challenge or when they get lost in LA. I’d like to know why the show decided to skip the final three format and have four teams compete for a leg and a half before someone is eliminated.

What if all four teams take the same flight to LA?

I’m sure they will all be on same flight. Always are.

Not in favor of a final 4!!! Not the terms under which you play and if I’m one of the top 3 I’d be ticked! Does make a difference to have to beat three teams for the win then two. Were any of the teams from the LA area originally???

The funniest part was how the dentist was going on and on about how smart they are, but 1 they went the wrong way and 2 he didn’t think to go back to the cart to see where they needed to deliver everything and was lucky to be right next to the surfer when he figured it out. I am rooting for the surfers, but they were pretty careless this week.

Have to say I loved when Adam left Jim in the dust during that last challenge. I mean Jim is STRONG, but Adam just high tailed it past him!!!

I also hope that they all somehow got to wash up before boarding that plane to LA!!!

Many seasons ago there were 4 teams left and I think one got eliminated as they kept racing. I think that’s what is happening here as Phil said one team would be eliminated some time during the next leg. So even though it is starting with 4 teams, there will only be 3 running to the finish.

I don’t think they can change or adjust the rules as the game goes on, I think they have to file the rules before the contest begins. Game shows are highly regulated. Sometimes if there is a mistake in filming they will note that in the credits. Jeopardy! and other game shows sometimes let players return if something has been unfair. When the Candygirls arrived at the pit stop, Phil was holding the their clue and envelope so I’m sure it was always planned for all 4 teams to return to LA.

Anybody. But. The. Dentists. Obnoxious. Arrogant.

And those teeth! Scary. Can you imagine the grins if they win?

This season is interesting in that no team has been particularly consistently strong. They each have made numerous bone-headed mistakes, things that anyone who is familiar with TAR shouldn’t be making in Season 25.

twoinanddone, I don’t recall there ever being four teams in the final leg. What you may be remembering is when they used to do the final two legs in a two hour finale. Phil said that it was the first time in TAR history that four teams would run the final leg.
