<p>There’s no question that Adam is the consummate performer. Every aspect of his performance is clearly addressed prior to him ever stepping foot onstage. This is, no doubt, partly due to his theatre background. Comparing him to Taylor Hicks is a mistake. Adam has more vocal talent than Taylor Hicks could ever dream of having, and I don’t mean that as a criticism of Taylor. He has a certain niche that he does well, and his stint with Grease is going fine (in the most undemanding role in the show). Although Adam may not be what any of us think is typical AI, and pop music isn’t really his thing, trust me, there are legions of fans who will pay to see him perform. He already has a huge fanbase that was there long before AI started this season. </p>
<p>I’ve seen many AI alumni onstage in the past several years, both in concert events and in theatre, and other than Jennifer Hudson, I can’t think of any I’d rather see (again) more than Adam. I’m not even sure that he’s actually my favorite this season (I like Kris!) but I do enjoy him and look forward to seeing what he’s going to do each week. I think he’s largely responsible for any good ratings the show is getting this season.</p>
<p>I agree that people tune in to American Idol this season with anticipation to see what Adam is going to come up with for a performance. Unlike many of the other people on this thread, I’m not a huge fan of his. I can appreciate what he’s trying to do, but I’m not a fan of his voice. In my opinion, he sings like a girl and I can’t help but picture him in a wig dressed up as a female impersonator. I’m sure he would be a big hit in the right broadway play, a cabaret show, or a Las Vegas show with a bunch of over-the-top androgynous dancers but I can’t imagine him being a successful solo recording artist. Please don’t misconstrue my opinion as a dig to his sexuality because I honestly don’t care what his or anyone’s sexual preference may be. I prefer when male singers sound like men when I hear them sing on the radio. Of course, this is just my personal opinion.</p>
<p>That was kind of my point, abasket. I think that a lot of people are still watching simply because of Adam. This season has been pretty boring for the most part, in my opinion, and the addition of the fourth judge has been a big mistake.</p>
<p>Could be. But AI is one of the highest ranking shows anyway - almost ALWAYS gets the #1 ratings practically every night it is on…</p>
<p>Personally, I really like Kara! I think she is a breath of fresh air. I’ve welcomed the change this year, though wonder if they will keep it up next year.</p>
<p>Adam’s voice has a rock edge when he lets it come out. He does scream sometimes but he remains on key. He definitely is not the female impersonator type, despite his love of eyeliner. As Randy says, Adam is the most current of the singers this year. He also puts his artistic touch on whatever piece he performs. I hope he goes back to him tonight, rather than immersion in the genre. He could certainly pull of an Aerosmith song with his voice and I would love to see his interpretation updating an 80s rock classic.
By the way, I think Adam is quite good looking.</p>
<p>I wasn’t crazy about Danny. I like when he’s sings soulful and mellow but I absolutely hate when he tries to scream and yell to reach the higher notes.</p>
<p>ok…there is just something about danny that annoys me so much…he can sing…but he will always look like a karaoke singer. i also hate to admit, that his backstory seems so unreal. i dont doubt he lost his wife, but i dont think i’d be able to go on the way he is…lol</p>
