New American Idol thread

Have to say I agree with Simon

bottom 3

Lil
Matt
Anoop

going home…Lil and Anoop…but I really want 'Noop to stay!! gotta vote.

If only that last note didn’t happen. He looked great tonight and he can sing but that last note was tough on the ears.

OH, I forgot that two go home!!!

I am going to vote twice for Kris, Allison, Danny Adam and Anoop.

Who was that Adam mentioned regarding the arrangement help? Is that someone who works for Idol? Does anyone know?

I really enjoy our weekly/biweekly Idol conferences. I will miss this when Idol is done for the season.

this has been fun  voting now and watching Deadliest Catch.

curious77, I was wondering the exact same thing.

curious, it was Michael Orland that helped with the arrangement for Adam’s song. Michael is the musical director for Idol.

I think Adam and Kris were the stars tonight, by a long shot. It’s long past time for Lil to go home. I don’t know who I’d pick for the other one.

Always fun to read these recaps…thanks again! I didn’t get to see last week’s and made sure to watch tonight even though I hate disco. However, most of the performances didn’t seem disco at all, so worked for me :)

Top 3: Adam–he sings like he means it, gave me tears (again)
Kris–creative version of this song…very contemporary
Alison–her deep, “old-soul” voice has that great rock flavor. Love it.
Middle: Danny–I haven’t loved any of his performances for a few weeks now.
Bottom 3: Lil, Matt, Anoop
Going home: Lil & Anoop?

PS I have NEVER downloaded an idol song before, but had to get Adam Lambert’s version of “Mad World” from a couple weeks ago. I’ve replayed it so many times, my husband thought something was wrong with the computer…

Thanks alwaysamom.
I agree about Adam and Kris. They really were creative and pulled it off. But I have to say I liked the way Allison put a rock edge on Donna Summer. She is quite an original and has her own style (both in her vocals and her dress). I think she will get a record deal. I guess Lil will be in the bottom but I have no idea who else. I think Simon was negative to Anoop and Matt because he wanted to make sure that the others (besides Lil) did not go home.

same here…loved Kris, Adam’s amazing, and Lil has to go. She’s clearly the worst. Matt I thought was corny. I’m a bit worried for Allison…she’s been in the bottom group, I don’t think she has the voter fan base the others have. Shame since I’d put her top 3 (third to be exact).

Danny’s a bit boring. I liked Anoop but he could be in trouble.

I would like to see Anoop stay but I am probably biased since I am Southeast Asian and rooting for the rare Asian that sings American songs so well.

I could forgive him the last note because he is a great capella singer overall. He had sung extremely well last time and he still ended up in the bottom 3. But the reality check is that % wise, far fewer SE Asians are going to bother picking up the phone and calling for him.

May be it’s just me, but that Arahita girl (the one with red hair) is painfully tough on my eyes. I could forgive her red hairdo if only she didn’t dress like a streetwalker and didn’t pelt out notes like she were about to throw up. If it were up to me, I would give her the boot first. When she begins singing, I wait for her to finish up. Not a good sign for someone who wants to sell millions of albums. Don’t see any mass appeal at least not to folks like me 40 something. Is this image what America wants to see represented in the “American Idol” these days? Images like that of a streetwalker? Gosh! No, I hope.

Lil is much better than her I think although Simon has already made up his mind about Lil and Anoop, it appears.

Different strokes for different folks. I can’t remember the last time that I heard Lil sing that I thought she deserved to be in the top seven.

I think the key here, is that most of the people up there have ‘nice’ voices. It’s what they’ve demonstrated they can do with their song choices and how they can define themselves as singers that will be important for success after AI. I don’t get that with Lil. In fact, at this point, I really only see that happening for Adam (don’t get me wrong, I’m not always fond of his arrangements, but he is the most talented), Chris and Allison. Yes, the others are good, but they just come across as sort of ‘brilliant’ (as Simon would say) karaoke singers… not anyone I would download music from.

How long did the show go over? I want to reset my Tivo. Thanks.

I dont think it ran over at all. Paula wasn’t rambling too much, I only wanted to slug her once that I recall (early on when she was being silly with Simon).

I think by eliminating a ‘guest’ musician that worked with each one the contestants, they had less footage to show; I was soooooo glad to not have to sit through that this week.

Kris is growing on me. I think it should be him and Adam in the finals.

Hi all…I always lurk during AI to see if I agree with the masses…always interesting.

I agree with most of you on the board. I’ve liked Kris for a long time and I think he’s getting better and better. Adam…LOVE HIM! Curiouser, I too have actually downloaded mad world and listen to it all the time. He’s amazing! I liked Allison alot tonight. That was a real original version of Hot Stuff and I think she has an incredible (Nasty) voice… She looks alot older than 16 though.

Lil and matt have to go. Matt was embarrassingly bad IMO. I missed Lil’s performance, but she doesn’t have much left. Her kids are cute though…

Anoop will go next week. Then, toss up depending on how they perform. Adam will win, I take it back…has already won.

I voted for Anoop (twice). I’m not ready to see him go.
