New American Idol thread

…"That old lady was Whitney Houston??? "

ROTFLMAO!!!

OK results time. And the one going home is

Anoop

going home is Anoop.

Anoop is gone. :(

Back to grad school for Anoop!

I’ll miss my 'Noop Dawg!

well he will be on tour so its not 2 bad

Thanks everyone. I can’t stand the fillers on the results show so I check here to see what happened.

I was afraid Anoop might be gone after last night. I don’t care what the other judges said, I was with Simon on his performance. Didn’t think it would resonate with the voters, either.

The two going home are the two who should be going home. That was a close one, with Alison though.

I couldn’t bear to watch the disco-era singers. Mostly awful. I switched back and forth to the NBA playoffs and I’m not even a sports fan.

Anybody know what the theme is supposed to be next week?

Jazz

(10 char)

Oooo jazz? that could be interesting with this crew.

jazz will work to Matt’s style.

I have to say that Paula’s dress was awful and awfully short. H seemed to DIG it. Bleh.

Agree - the disco singers were terrible. What were we thinking back then?

The scariest part of the disco singers was the wardrobe. Thelma Houston’s dress was too short in the front for me…I kept thinking I was going to see something I didn’t want to see. At least Paula still had the body for the dress she wore.

Gosh. The guest singers were awful. They either have lost their voices or it was all electronically enhanced way back when. I thought the group did a good job with Paula’s dance number. I was truly surprised. As I said before, usually they all look so pained as they march back and forth and criss cross on the stage. But she actually made them move their hips. It was fun to watch. Poor Anoop. If Matt had not been saved last week he would still be on the show. And then Matt was not even in the bottom 4 in the votes last night. Wow. I guess his fans realized they had better vote many times.

I missed this week, both nights, so I thought I’d catch up here. It sounds like a GOOD thing that I missed it, I never really liked disco anyway. We were the Country Rock crew during those days. Glad to hear Adam & Kris are safe again. Wasn’t really worried about either yet though.

Melsmom, H & I were just discussing the “era” and agree that there were generally two mainstream “music camps” at that time–either you were in the disco camp or the southern/country rock camp. Not many people were in both!

I’ll look forward to the next show much more than I did disco  I love jazz and think this remaining group could do it justice. I really like them all and agree that it’s among the most talented five we’ve had. I do think that Adam’s performances, in general, are at a higher echelon than the rest of them. Once again, it will be interesting to see what he does with Jazz Week.

I was proudly in both camps. ^^^

My older siblings had very different musical tastes, and so I was exposed, heavily, to both Motown and Jimi Hendrix, for instance, in the '60s and '70s. As I grew up, my love of dance made me a huge disco fan; my naturally raunchy tendency made me love things like “Tube Steak/Snake Boogie.” :D

I think next week is being billed as “Rat Pack Standards” at least that’s what they’ve got up on the American Idol website. Would that mean like Frank Sinatra?

Wow…I used to think KC was cute back in the 70s. I know, we all get old, but I thought he looked and sounded terrible. The un-tucked in shirt did little to hide his paunch. He should really give it up. (you can still look OK when you’re 60; I saw Fleetwood Mac last week and Lindsay Buckingham looked GREAT).
Anyway, I rarely watch but I couldn’t believe how much filler there was. Really, this “vote off” portion of show should last no more than a half hour. I grew tired of all the bad guest singers and the drawn-out drama with the contestants learning if they’re safe or not.
Now, Sarah Boyle, she’s something. I think I’ll stick to watching You Tube highlights.
