New American Idol thread

Frank, Sammy or Dean. I don’t think the Joey Bishop or Peter Lawford songbook was too extensive.

Anoop is gone! :frowning:
I am going to stop watching the American Idol now. I suspect most of the South East Asians will do the same.

They give Anoop the boot. I would urge all SE Asians to give American Idol the boot!

Ooh, Adam singing Frank Sinatra. I think I’m going to swoon :)

Pharmagal: I thought that Anoop had a lot of potential. The performance last night seemed to much more relaxed and he looked like he was having fun. Can I be asian too?

I’ll probably keep watching just because I watch with my daughter. I just don’t get the whole Adam thing.

I think Paula ought to do the choreography each week. They would learn a lot from her.

That should be a very “Rocky Horror Picture Show meets The Rat Pack” moment.

sorry if I was wrong about “jazz” next week. That’s what I had read.

I really liked Anoop from the first audition. And I do love men in pink.

That being said…Adam, Adam, Adam.

Not too far off, mafool. The Rat Pack has some swingin’ jazz tunes.

I hope Adam picks Sammy over Frank. BUt it will be interesting. I would bet Matt will pick a Frank tune. He already has the hat.

I can so see Matt doing Mack the Knife.

I thought it was a talent competition not a race competition.

i think they got it exactly right. …anoop is wonderful, but kind or one-level. I honestly think this is the best season of talent yet…and the remaining contestants are there because they really are the best.

Bringing the thread to the top in preparation for tonight.

HOWEVER…this week is the Rat Pack. And they have Jamie Foxx as the mentor. How is Jamie Foxx related to either the Rat Pack or American Idol?

<scratching my=“” head=“” like=“” i=“” did=“” with=“” tarantino=“”></scratching>

Have the Idol producers really run out of singing mentor talent???

Does Fox have some kind of involvement in his new movie (which didn’t do as well as expected if I heard correctly re last weekend’s box office)? Cross promotion?

Well, Jamie Foxx is actually a musician, unlike Tarentino. Perhaps the tenuous connection is that, like Sinatra, he has won an Oscar in addition to having success as a recording artist?

Maybe they should have chosen the Brat Pack rather than the Rat Pack - they are not quite as unavailable.

^ Good idea. Just don’t let Rob Lowe sing to Snow White. :)

I’m looking forward to what Adam will do tonight!

D was looking though her Playbills yesterday and called me laughing. When we saw Wicked in LA I guess Adam was on as Fiyero that day. D remembered that she had liked that Fiyero the best out of the ones she had seen on the tour and in New York!

I can’t get the channel that AI is on nowadays, but I have checked out some of the videos on their web site.

I continue to really like Danny. Adam is too into showing off what his voice can do to give a moving performance, from what I’ve seen. (Tracks of My Tears as an example.) He just doesn’t appeal to me as a performer.

I mostly watch the show to see what Adam will come up with next. I keep thinking he has got to screw up at some point, but he keeps improving his performances. I like the way he gives credit to others who helped him with his arrangements.

I think it will be Adam and Danny in the finals.
